About Indian Premier League

The Indian Premier League (IPL) is the premier Twenty20 franchise competition in India, organised by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) since 2008. Ten city-based teams compete for one of the biggest prizes in club cricket, drawing the world’s leading international and domestic players into a single, intensely followed season.

Since its launch in 2008, the IPL has reshaped the global cricket calendar and the economics of the sport. Its annual player auction, franchise model and prime-time scheduling turned domestic T20 into a worldwide spectacle, and the league is now consistently among the most-watched and highest-valued sporting properties in the world.

The season is built around a double round-robin league stage, where every team plays the others home and away. The top four sides advance to the playoffs — Qualifier 1, the Eliminator and Qualifier 2 — which feed into the Final, rewarding consistency while leaving room for late drama.

Across its history the IPL has been defined by dynasties and superstars: Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings have set the benchmark with five titles apiece, while batters and bowlers regularly rewrite the record books for most runs, most wickets and biggest totals.

On this page you can follow the live IPL points table, the full schedule and results, every participating team and the season’s leading run-scorers and wicket-takers — all in one place, season by season.
