About County Championship Division One
The County Championship Division One is the top tier of England and Wales’ historic first-class cricket competition.
Played over four-day matches across the season, the Championship is the traditional proving ground for Test cricketers and one of the oldest domestic competitions in the sport, dating back to the 19th century.
Points are earned for wins, draws and bonus performances with bat and ball, and the lower-placed sides face relegation to Division Two.
