Vaibhav Sooryavanshi Becomes Youngest Cricketer to Score an International Fifty

India's 15-year-old batting sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has etched his name into the record books with a historic achievement. During the first T20I against Zimbabwe at Harare Sports Club, the young left-hander became the youngest cricketer ever to score an international half-century, breaking multiple long-standing records.

Historic Milestone at 15 Years and 118 Days

After a quiet start to his international career during the T20I series against England, Vaibhav announced himself in style against Zimbabwe. Chasing 126, he brought up his maiden international half-century in just 18 balls before being dismissed for 50 off 19 deliveries, smashing 4 fours and 4 sixes.

At 15 years and 118 days, the Indian opener became the youngest player ever to register a 50-plus score in men's international cricket. Before Vaibhav, only Nepal's Kushal Malla had scored an international fifty before turning 16, achieving the feat at 15 years and 340 days against the USA in an ODI in 2020.

By surpassing Sachin Tendulkar's 37-year-old milestone, Vaibhav now holds the record among all players representing ICC Full Member nations.

Youngest Players to Score a Maiden T20I Fifty

Vaibhav also became the youngest player in history to score a T20I half-century, comfortably breaking the previous record.

The previous youngest batter from an ICC Full Member nation to score a maiden T20I fifty was Rahmanullah Gurbaz (Afghanistan), who achieved the feat at 17 years and 296 days against Zimbabwe in 2019.

Vaibhav's fearless innings not only helped India secure a comfortable seven-wicket victory over Zimbabwe but also announced the arrival of one of world cricket's brightest young talents.
