India crash to record 125-run defeat against England in 3rd T20I

India lost by a huge margin on Tuesday night, getting bowled out for just 76 as England won the 3rd T20I by 125 runs at Trent Bridge, Nottingham. It was India's biggest-ever T20I defeat by runs. Chasing 202, India lost wickets in a heap and were never in the game. They are now 2-0 down in the five-match series and can no longer win it.

India won the toss and chose to bowl first on a good batting pitch. But Phil Salt and a strong England finish put the hosts in control, and then India's batting fell apart completely. It was another bad night on a tough tour, and the pressure is now growing on new captain Shreyas Iyer.

Salt takes England to 201/7

England used the good conditions well to post 201/7. Salt led the way with a superb 70 off 44 balls, while Jos Buttler gave the innings a fast start with 36 off 21. Later, Sam Curran finished strongly with an unbeaten 41 off just 24 balls to take England past 200.

India did have some good moments. Prince Yadav, who came in for the dropped Ravi Bishnoi, was India's best bowler with 2 for 30. He bowled Buttler and then got Harry Brook cheaply. Harshit Rana also took two wickets in two balls to bring India back for a while. But England were 92 for 2 at the halfway point and scored freely in the last 10 overs, and India could not stop them.

India's chase falls apart

Chasing 202 was always going to be hard, but India made it look impossible. The top order was blown away early, and India lost five wickets inside the first seven overs. From there, they never had a chance.

Jofra Archer and Josh Tongue were too good with the new ball and took three wickets each. Most of India's batters were out in single figures. Young Vaibhav Sooryavanshi top-scored with just 13, and the innings ended on 76 — handing England a 125-run win, India's heaviest T20I loss by runs.

There was no big partnership and no fightback. On a fast pitch and against a sharp England attack, India were simply blown away.

A tough start for Shreyas Iyer

This defeat adds to a poor run for Iyer, who is still waiting for his first win in his first four T20Is as captain. He was given the job on his return to the side, and he has walked straight into a tour where nothing has gone right.

India's problems have been made worse by injuries. With all-rounders Hardik Pandya and Nitish Kumar Reddy both out, the team has looked unbalanced all series. Dropping Bishnoi after his costly game in Manchester was one call that worked, as Prince Yadav bowled well. But there was little else for India to feel good about.

What it means for the series

England now lead 2-0, with the first match washed out, and can seal the series in the 4th T20I. For India, the situation is clear: they can no longer win the series and can only draw it 2-2 by winning both remaining games.

The bigger worry is the way India are losing. Their death bowling has been hit hard again, and their batting has now failed twice while chasing. Iyer's side will need a big change — and a lot more fight — to stop the tour from getting worse.

Brief Scores:England 201/7 in 20 overs (Phil Salt 70, Sam Curran 41*; Prince Yadav 2-30, Harshit Rana 2-40) beat India 76 in 11.4 overs (Vaibhav Sooryavanshi 13; Josh Tongue 4-28, Jofra Archer 3-29, Adil Rashid 2-14) by 125 runs
