The Hundred 2026 Direct Signings and Retentions Tracker: The England-based league, 'The Hundred,' is set to debut a new avatar this year by introducing a player auction modeled after the IPL.
For the first time in the tournament's history, the eight franchises will bid for players to build their squads (first-ever player auction this March), and teams have already begun finalizing their core groups by releasing their lists of retained and pre-signed players.
The Hundred 2026 is set to be played from July 21 to August 16, 2026, with the first-ever player auction scheduled for March 2026.
Ahead of the auction, all eight franchises have begun finalizing their pre-auction lists, which include up to four players — a mix of retentions and direct signings per team. Teams can sign a maximum of three direct signings and at least one retention ahead of the auction.
MI London (formerly the Oval Invincibles), who boast three men’s and two women’s titles, have retained Surrey stars Sam Curran and Will Jacks for the men's side, while securing Danni Wyatt-Hodge as a direct signing for the women's team.
However, they made the surprising decision to release last season's 'Player of the Series' Jordan Cox—who hammered 327 runs in eight innings—alongside their three-time title-winning captain, Sam Billings.
Meanwhile, Sunrisers Leeds (formerly Northern Superchargers) have solidified their roster by retaining Harry Brook and Brydon Carse, while adding Nathan Ellis and Mitchell Marsh via direct signings for the men’s team; their women’s squad sees the return of Kate Cross, Phoebe Litchfield, and Annabel Sutherland.
Birmingham Phoenix has prioritized elite all-rounders, retaining Ellyse Perry and Jacob Bethell while bringing in young stars Alice Capsey and Rehan Ahmed through direct signings.
In contrast, the Trent Rockets have opted for a fresh start by not retaining any players, instead choosing to use their direct signing slots to secure heavy hitters Tim David for the men and Nat Sciver-Brunt for the women.
