Sri Lanka Announce 17-Member Squad for ODI Series Against England

Sri Lanka Cricket has officially announced its squad for the upcoming ODI series against England, with the selectors opting for a balanced team that mixes experience with young talent.

The three-match series, to be played in Sri Lanka, is seen as an important step in the team’s white-ball preparations.

The squad welcomes the return of experienced all-rounder Dhananjaya de Silva, while also including young players Dunith Wellalage and Milan Rathnayake to strengthen the team's overall depth.

Their selection shows the management’s focus on building a strong core for the future while keeping experienced players in key roles.

Led by Charith Asalanka, Sri Lanka’s batting unit looks stable and dependable. Pathum Nissanka and Kusal Mendis are expected to open the innings and provide solid starts.

They will be supported by Kamil Mishara and Sadeera Samarawickrama, who add strength to the top order. In the middle order, Kamindu Mendis and Janith Liyanage will play an important role in controlling the innings and accelerating when needed.

Sri Lanka’s bowling attack offers a good balance of pace and spin, which is likely to suit home conditions. The fast bowling department will be handled by Asitha Fernando, Pramod Madushan, and Eshan Malinga, all of whom will look to put pressure on England’s batters with early wickets.

Spin remains a key strength, with Wanindu Hasaranga, Maheesh Theekshana, and Jeffrey Vandersay included in the squad. Dunith Wellalage’s left-arm spin adds extra variety and gives the team more flexibility during the middle overs.

The ODI series against England will be a crucial test for Sri Lanka as they continue to fine-tune their combinations ahead of future international tournaments.

With a well-balanced squad and familiar home conditions, Sri Lanka will be hoping for a strong performance against a competitive England side.
