IND vs NZ 1st T20I Highlights: India Beat New Zealand by 48 Runs in Nagpur

IND vs NZ 1st T20I highlights: India made a strong start to the five-match T20I series against New Zealand with a convincing 48-run win in the first match at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium. With this victory, India took an early 1–0 lead in the series.

After losing the toss, India were asked to bat first and delivered an aggressive batting performance. Opener Abhishek Sharma played a sensational knock, scoring 84 runs off just 35 balls, hitting the New Zealand bowlers all around the park.

India lost a few wickets in the middle overs, but the scoring rate never dropped. The innings gained further momentum at the death, thanks to Rinku Singh, who remained unbeaten on 44 off 20 balls, helping India finish with a massive 238 for 7 in 20 overs.

It was one of India’s highest T20I totals against New Zealand and put the visitors under immediate pressure.

Chasing a challenging target of 239, New Zealand struggled to keep up with the required run rate. Early wickets slowed their chase, and regular breakthroughs from the Indian bowlers prevented any big partnerships.

Glenn Phillips was the standout performer for the visitors, scoring a fighting 78 runs, while Mark Chapman added 39. However, with little support from the rest of the batting lineup, New Zealand could only reach 190 for 7 in their 20 overs.

India’s bowlers maintained control in the middle overs, ensuring the target remained out of reach for the Kiwi side.

The comprehensive win gives India early momentum in the series, while New Zealand will look to bounce back in the second T20I.

Brief scores: India 238/7 in 20 overs (Abhishek Sharma 84, Rinku Singh 44*; Jacob Duffy 2/27) beat New Zealand 190/7 in 20 overs (Glenn Phillips 78, Mark Chapman 39; Shivam Dube 2/28) by 48 runs
